{"id":734,"date":"2020-12-09T13:08:35","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T18:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/?p=734"},"modified":"2021-11-02T13:21:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T17:21:52","slug":"december-update-news-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/2020\/12\/09\/december-update-news-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"December Update News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h4>Next Major Update Announcement, A Small Update In Time For Christmas and More!<\/h4>\n<p>Hello everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Today we bring you news on upcoming updates for Foundation as well as some further information on what we have been up to over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n<h5>Next Major Update: <b>UI Rehaul<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Firstly let\u2019s talk about the next major update which is one we know you are all waiting for. As you have likely seen and read we are currently working on a complete <\/span><b>UI rehaul<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This has not been a small undertaking, requiring major work on the game engine as well as a complete rehaul and full design of the UI, including a <\/span><b>new HUD<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as new panels and windows for quests, events, building panel, main menu, splash screen, icons and much, much more. You name it, it has needed designing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, the UI update will include improvements to the <\/span><b>user experience <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(UX) in the form of greater player feedback, better <\/span><b>tooltips<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and improved <\/span><b>accessibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the second phase of design and implementation. We will then go on to a further phase which will include a more detailed and improved <\/span><b>help menu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, better <\/span><b>tutorialization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, further refinement and improvements and much more. We have listened to feedback from the community which has also helped to guide some of the improvements you will get to see when the update drops.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Needless to say, this major update is taking some time to design and program and there is still a lot more work needed to program and implement all the changes of the initial phase. We will bring you more news on the progress <\/span><b>early next year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>A Little Christmas Surprise: Key Mapping Update<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whilst some of the team have been working on the new UI we have also been working on a <strong>small update<\/strong> released in time for Christmas. This update brings a much-requested feature from the community, namely&#8230; <\/span><b>key mapping<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s right folks, you can now set up the game controls to suit your own playstyle and requirements. You will find a new tab in the settings panel that will allow you to <\/span><b>remap <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the most <\/span><b>common controls<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the first step in a <\/span><b>complete accessibility plan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and design that we will implement in full before the final release of the game.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"481\" src=\"https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Keybinds.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Keybinds.png 850w, https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Keybinds-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/www.polymorph.games\/foundation\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Keybinds-768x435.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key mapping update also comes with <\/span><b>new functions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as zooming via keyboard commands, using Page_Up and Page_Down. These new functions are, of course, included in the key mapping options to allow for your own personal preferences.<br \/><br \/><strong>Changelog<\/strong><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New feature: Key Mapping<\/li>\n<li>New keyboard shortcuts:\n<ul>\n<li>F1 = Help<\/li>\n<li>Home = move to Village Center<\/li>\n<li>Page Up\/down = Zoom<\/li>\n<li>1-2-3 = game speeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>camera axis inversion<\/li>\n<li>mouse camera sensitivity<\/li>\n<li>keyboard camera sensitivity<\/li>\n<li>fix: navmesh was not generated in some rare regions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Final Game Design<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As well as the above update plans we have been working full time on completing the <\/span><b>final game design<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Although there has been a vision set out from the start, a large reason for releasing into Early Access was to allow the game to <\/span><b>evolve and improve <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with feedback from the community. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As such, we are planning to <\/span><b>release an updated roadmap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> early next year detailing the remaining updates and features to the final release.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Final words\u2026<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2020 has been an unusual year for us all and due to the global pandemic, our production velocity has been hampered to some extent.
